Organization and Planning for Momtrepreneurs
No, unfortunately I am not some supernatural being. I’m not Martha Stewart, or anywhere near that. My house is not some pristine chapel clean enough for a white glove test on a quick notice. I am a mom and an entrepreneur. My life is crazy, chaotic even, and often quite messy. Yes, there are some weeks when the sink sits piled high with dishes. There are even some months where, no matter how hard I try, my laundry piles look more like mountains. I am as real of a momtrepreneur as it gets, but I will tell you this, even in the messiness that occurs from working hard at raising a baby and a business, I am always very organized.
You can ask me to find a receipt from 7 months ago and I’ll find it because I know exactly where it’s at. You can ask me how much I spend on grocery shopping every month & I can tell you my average over the past year. I can tell you when every vehicle in my household had its last oil change, when my air conditioning filter was last changed and I know all of our family’s latest medical information. My hall closet & bathroom storage is also completely organized, and I can plan an amazing party in a pinch like a pro. No I don’t have a magic wand and again, I am no Martha Stewart, but I’ve accumulated and created many different organization and planning tips, tricks and tools over the years that have definitely helped me manage a home and a business like a super mom (most of the time anyway).

Organize, Plan, Reach Your Goals and Enjoy Your Own Tropical Paradise
An unorganized home and mind are like kryptonite when you are a momtrepreneur trying to chase your dreams and accomplish your goals. Keep in mind that a clean house and an organized house are two very different things. Organization though, often leads to keeping a cleaner home and together, which I am sure you can agree with me, they are like some tropical paradise. When my house is clean, my fridge is stocked, my weekly meals are planned, my desk is organized and I’m checking off my goal oriented action items, I feel like I might as well be on a tropical island somewhere with a fruity drink in my hand.
Yes, yes, I am the nerd that often finds more joy out of organizing and creating a plan for my home and work life, rather than vegging out on a couch watching the latest episode of the Bachelor, but I’ve done the dirty work for you, to help you become that organized super mom and entrepreneur and reach that tropical paradise feeling more often than not, and help you reach your goals.

Being highly organized takes little knowledge, it is a behavioral shift, but with the right tools, tips and tricks, you can live a highly organized life too, and I absolutely love sharing these with you! - Take Inventory
What do your days, weeks and months look like? Do you have set days that you pay bills? What days do the kids have extracurricular activities? What meetings do you have? Special occasions? And where do you put stuff? Where does everything “live” in your home? Do you have a designated place for mail? For the kids school paperwork? For receipts? Make a list of all of the events in your home and business from regular reoccurring to one-offs, and then make a list of all the “spaces” in your home from under the sink to that obscure bathroom nook.
- Gather All the Important Stuff
You don’t need to organize it just yet, but start by creating piles of all the important stuff. Finance documents like bills, financial statements, and any worksheets you may use. Home documents like insurance paperwork, home maintenance records, and personal documents like birth certificates, marriage certificates, and health insurance details. Sorting all these things out is the first part to get organized.
